Sir Aidan

Aidan's class has been learning about medieval times this month. Today they had their grand feast and tournament.

First they paraded in with their banners and shields. Then each of the boys was knighted by Queen Jackie, after which they each received their swords.

The girls (princesses!) did a scarf dance. Then the new knights jousted after getting a favor (scarf) from one of the princesses. The joust was over when one of the scarves fell.

Their Round Table Feast included chicken legs, cheese, grapes, boiled eggs, potato wedges ("really long french fries!"), and bread with honey. Some of the moms got creative with the cakes. Aidan said there was a castle cake and a dragon cake. I only saw the castle cake:

Finally Finished

The picture is a bit out of focus, but Aidan and Thomas finally finished the Lego version of "Star Wars" X-wing. It only took them 3 nights! Every morning Aidan would ask where Daddy was and when he was coming home. Then he'd pounce on Thomas as soon as he came in the door. "Can we build the X-wing? Can we? Now?"

Summer's Here Already?

We stepped into the Butterfly Exhibit at the science museum last week and that wave of heat and humidity nearly knocked me over. Ugh! I suppose it felt even worse because we had on long sleeves and pants.

The butterflies were out in force--I don't think I've ever seen so many. It was really incredible to see them all flying around.

I was really impressed by the improvements they've made to the bug part of the exhibit. It is all much more kid-friendly. But some of those bugs are still really gross!

We love Wii

Brennan tries his hardest to play along with everyone on the Wii. He knows how to put the remote controls together (but hasn't mastered taking them apart). He gets really excited by the Indiana Jones music (just ignore the fact that he's trying to wrap the cord around his neck).

Tooth-less

Aidan lost both bottom teeth within two hours of each other Monday night!!

The tooth fairy lost her wand and had to come back on Tuesday night to pick up the teeth which was a good thing since Aidan fell asleep Monday night before putting his teeth under his pillow (he's got a bad cold).

Marian

We had just gotten an inkling that Marian was having trouble seeing at a distance, when a paper came home from school saying that she'd failed 2 eye tests. So today she got her first (and second) pair of glasses! She's been asking for them for years, so hopefully she continues to like them!

Aidan

Aidan's two bottom front teeth are loose!
