Under the Sea

Aidan's last High Flyer field trip was to the Downtown Aquarium.

The boys then wanted to go on the Ferris wheel, which I thought Aidan would change his mind once he got closer.

Nope! They loved it!

They were all hoping it would get stuck and the firemen would have to come save us!

We had a great view of downtown and Gramps' building

Then they wanted to go on the free-fall ride, which I thought Aidan would change his mind once he saw what it really did. Nope! It drops about 5-10 feet and he did ok the first 2 times. Then he tensed when it went back up and had a frozen scared smile on his face for the next few drops. But he said he liked it when he got off.

After lunch we went into the actual aquarium.

The touch pool had a spot to go underneath to see the stingrays swim over you. Aidan is on the left. He had a great time feeling the very friendly rays. If they swam over to you and you didn't pet them right away, they would splash you to get your attention!

Marian's Brownie troop had a party at the fitness center, where they got to climb the rock wall. Marian couldn't get enough of it!

Jesus's 12

At church this weekend, Aidan pokes my shoulder during the Gospel reading, and says, "Jesus's twelve."
I said, "What?"
"Jesus's twelve"
"What are you talking about?" (thinking he's telling me Jesus is 12 years old)
"Jesus has twelve 'discycles'--Ms. Beth told me! This church only has 2." (Ms. Beth does chapel-time at preschool)
It dawns on me that the Gospel story has Jesus going to a town with 2 of his disciples. So I said, "You're right--Jesus has 12 disciples, there's just 2 in this story."
Aidan says, "Oh, so the other 10 are dead."

Kum-ba-ya

Here is our adventure in Girl Scout camping. I took some disposable cameras instead of my digital one, so the quality isn't so good, and it's amazing how many times my finger ended up in the picture!

We weren't exactly roughing it. We got into the treehouse unit, so they were more like cabins instead of tents. They had a ceiling fan (don't want to think about how dirty that was), a light, and real toilets, but still the same hard cots as the rest of camp.

Their first activity was orienteering (using a compass). Some of them were actually getting the hang of it!
